Created and led by Altamir Coelho (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Viva Brazil plays upbeat Brazilian music styles such as Samba, Baião, Bossa Nova, Samba-Funk, Samba-Rock, Brazilian Jazz, and Fusion. Repertoire consists of internationally recognized Brazilian songs, sung in both English and Portuguese, as well as American classic hits played with a unique twist of Brazilian flavor making them both original and unforgettable.
Based in Minneapolis, MN Viva Brazil has performed at numerous Music Festivals throughout the Midwest. This band of Internationals is ready to enliven their fans and transport them to the hot sandy beaches of Brazil through their euphonious melodies. With Viva Brazil every night is about letting loose, having fun, and dancing the night away.
Altamir Coelho (Rio De Janeiro Brazil) has toured in over two hundred cities in four different countries and has recorded electric and upright bass in over one hundred CD tracks. He has collaborated on several albums and recorded or performed with over eighty different acts both in Brazil and USA.
Altamir is a guest artist at the University of St Thomas and has performed in several concerts with Dr. Angela Broeker, the Director of Choral Activities. In 2011 he spent two seasons on the staff of the University of Minnesota as an accompanist for the modern dance classes held at the Barbara Barker Center For Dance
In 2013 Altamir received a full presidential scholarship to attend McNally Smith College of Music where he is finishing his degree in Applied Science in Music Performance.
