Canadian a cappella group throw the 80s bash of the year at the launch of their new album 'Mixtape' in Toronto!

Martha Johnson of popular Canadian new wave band Martha and the Muffins joins Retrocity as their special guest!

Hot off performances at the Beaches International Jazz Festival and Panamania at the 2015 PanAm Games, Toronto's totally 80s a cappella group Retrocity launch their second studio album  a 12 track recording called 'Mixtape,' in which 100 percent of all sounds are produced by the human voice or body  at a live concert and post-show dance party.

Retrocity's Aaron Jensen, who is also the artistic director of SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, states, "Retrocity is extremely excited to be launching our new album, 'Mixtape'. Audiences can look forward to an interactive, high-energy concert featuring songs from the album, deep cuts from the Retro vault and a few surprises for the super fans. We are thrilled to announce that one of our heroes, Martha Johnson, will be joining us as a special guest. And, after the concert is finished, we'll be turning the dance floor over to DJ Todd who will spin his favourite jams from the 1980s. It's going to be a joyful evening of music and mayhem."

WHO: Retrocity is Aaron Jensen, Art Mullin, Daniel Galessiere, Dylan Bell, Jenn Hadfield, Lanie Treen, Ross Lynde and Suba Sankaran. Special guest: Martha Johnson of Canadian new wave band Martha and the Muffins (or M+M as they are sometimes known)  renowned for their 1980 international hit song "Echo Beach".

WHEN: Tuesday, September 29, 2015, doors at 7:30 p.m. Retrocity will perform two sets starting at 8:00 p.m., and the post-show 80s dance party starts at 10:00 p.m.

'Mixtape' (released: July 17, 2015, available everywhere) was produced by Retrocity, recorded by Art Mullin at award winning music and sound production company RMW Music (Metric, Cadence, Human Highway), additional recording by Dylan Bell, and mastered by Andy Krehm for Silverbirch Mastering. The album features many 80s hits including "(You're A) Strange Animal", "Never Surrender", "Rise Up", "One Night in Bangkok" and more.

Track #4 ("One Night in Bangkok") is mixed by Juno Award winner Adam Messinger (produced and won a 2015 Jack Richardson Producer of the Year Award for Toronto reggae-rock band Magic!'s hit "Rude" and Iggy Azalea's "Change Your Life"). Tracks 1, 2, 8 and 12 mixed by Dylan Bell at FreePlay Studios. Tracks 3, 5, 7, 10 and 11 mixed by Art Mullin at Riverwalk Audio. Tracks 6 and 9 mixed by Kai Koschmider at Keen Music.

Guest vocals on track #12 "You're the Voice" (recorded by Hugh Walker) are by Grammy award-winning group The Swingle Singers (Sara Brimer, Jo Eteson, Kevin Fox, Clare Girard, Oliver Griffiths, Christopher Jay, Edward Randell).

Aaron Jensen: Artistic director of SING! The Toronto Vocal Arts Festival, Amadeus Choir and the renaissance octet Voci Strane.

Art Mullin: Music producer (Cadence), mixed for Metric, Human Highway and composer for TV and radio.

Dylan Bell: Former member of Cadence, Nathaniel Dett Chorale and winner of the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition.

Lanie Treen: Co-founder of Retrocity and musical director for theatre; past productions include As You Like It and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Driftwood Theatre).

Jenn Hadfield: A career of over 15 years working in commercial radio in Ontario, Canada.

Ross Lynde: Cadence, Shemp and a degree in music from York University.

Daniel Galessiere: Founding/former member of Cadence and has a degree in Kinesiology and masters in Physiotherapy.

ABOUT:
Toronto's totally 80s, eight member a cappella group Retrocity was born in 1998 and has since expanded its repertoire to cover jazz, soul and funk, yet their heart still belongs to the 1980s. They previously released their debut album 'Totally 80s A Cappella' in 2006 and now celebrate the launch of their second full-length recording 'Mixtape' (release date: July 17, 2015). The group has performed at venues and festivals around the world including headlining at 'The Swingle Singers' curated London A Cappella Festival (UK) in 2013, the Brandon Jazz Festival and, in Toronto, the Cavalcade of Lights (sharing the stage with Maestro Fresh Wes and Kardinal Offishall), the 2015 Beaches International Jazz Festival and Panamania at the 2015 PanAm Games.
