The Building Stage Company presents...the darkly playful, cinema-inspired, world premiere of NOIR from September 28 to November 3, 2007.

City streets, neon lights, and rain; voice-over narration, jazz music, and orchestral scoring; compositional tension, dutch angles, and chiaroscuro lighting; shafts of light, silhouette, and shadow. This is the classic black and white world of 1940's film noir. In the latest creation from the Building Stage this highly stylized world doesn't just provide a context for the story to unfold, it is the story itself.

Noir is created by the Building Stage Company out of clips from 1940's film noir movies including The Maltese Falcon, The Big Sleep, Double Indemnity, Out of the Past, The Lady from Shanghai, and Gilda. Additional material is drawn from the writings of Raymond Chandler as well as from commentators on the film noir genre.
