Brooklyn Forest School
Brooklyn is a wonderful place to raise children. It is full of art, culture and playgrounds. But a trip into the woods allows children to play in a wide open space and to learn reverence for nature that they cannot learn anywhere else. Thankfully, we have Prospect Park for that.
In forest school we will play in the mud, build with sticks, sing songs, run and also watch quietly as squirrels gather acorns to tuck away for the long winter.
The Tuesday class begins on January 10th and the Thursday class begins on January 12th. Our winter session is twelve weeks long.
The class will respect the rhythms of a Waldorf classroom. When we first meet we will say a short verse and then expand to explore the woods. We'll return to a circle for finger plays, simple puppet shows and story time. The class will close with a snack of warm, freshly baked bread and tea.
