A Question Of Mercy by David Rabe
A Question of Mercy by David Rabe based upon the Journal by Richard Selzer. ''Sometimes it's easy to find answers to the hard questions. This play asks the hard, hard questions and there are no easy answers.'' A Question of Mercy probes the sensitive and controversial issue of doctor-assisted suicide.
Anthony's life has become a myriad of endless symptoms and hopeless desperation. With the help of his lover and caretaker, Thomas and friend, Susanah, Anthony seeks the guidance of an understanding doctor, Dr. Chapman, who will put an end to his suffering. First unwilling, but soon persuaded by Anthony's charm and dignity he agrees to assist. Dr. Chapman devises a methodical plan that must be meticulously followed. As the time comes and passes, all their wishes and plans are swept aside by a force that proves stronger than any of their desires or decisions.
