Description
Macha Monkey Productions ( We Are Not These Hands, Fall Off Night, The Cowgirl Play, Green Night, Melancholy Play, R - The Swashbuckling Tale of Anne Bonny & Mary Read, GameGirl, Live Girls Do Elektra, the MEOW cabaret series) is proud to present the World premiere of Franklin and Figaro a work by Kristina Sutherland (co-author of Macha Monkeys other critically acclaimed works The Cowgirl Play, R - The Swashbuckling Tale of Anne Bonny and Mary Read, and Live Girls Do Elektra).

Set in 1776, Macha Monkey's Franklin and Figaro begins with Benjamin Franklin's legendary arrival in France. Lauded for his exploits in physics, philosophy, and philandering, Franklin trigged a wave of whispers, shrieks, and sighs especially among the upper-crust society of Madame Du Deffand's salon. This action-packed (and mostly true) story follows the high stakes adventures of Pierre Beaumarchais, the Parisian playwright who wrote The Marriage of Figaro and The Barber of Seville. As the aging Madame Du Deffand fights for control of her changing world, young upstart Pierre Beaumarchais runs guns for Franklins American Revolution in the pursuit of libert, fraternit, and cold hard cash!

This fast-paced comedy features an ensemble cast of eight: Marty Dinn, Jim Hamerlinck, Tinka Jonakova, Jody McCoy, Marty Mukhalian, Kathy Ulrich, James Weidman, and Raymond Williams. Directed by Joy Brooke Fairfield (Macha Monkeys We Are Not These Hands and Live Girls Patty Red Pants) Franklin and Figaro weaves live music by cellist Matthew Tevenan (Macha Monkeys Melancholy Play), dance, and shadow puppetry throughout the 90-minute production.

Macha Monkey Productions is a non-profit arts organization showcasing exceptional artists, delivering innovative education programs, and staging new theatrical works which feature strong female characters.
