A decidedly indie-style film with a "vintage" feel, Butterfly Rising deals with universal themes that cross race, sex and class boundaries; it's potent, human message has a positive story about love, pain and loss as these two women embark on a fated road trip to the City of Newhope. Written, directed and starring Tanya Wright (HBO's True Blood). Ms. Wright is also the author of the book, Butterfly Rising.

Tanya Wright plays the role of Deputy Kenya Jones on HBO's True Blood. Butterfly Rising--her directorial debut--is the first transmedia project (a story told over several different platforms--book, movie, game) written, directed, produced by and starring an African-American woman. Tanya next appears in the feature film Predisposed with Jesse Eisenberg, Academy Award winning Melissa Leo and Tracy Morgan. Tanya has many other film and TV projects in various stages of development.
