Soriano Lukens House Tour for Barnsdall Arts
Raphael Soriano, who had worked previously for both Richard Neutra and R.M. Schindler, designed relatively few homes with less than a dozen surveying today. This 1940 house was built for noted ceramic artist/USC professor glen Lukens. It had been abandoned for 20 years with Mike Chapman began his restoration utilizing original plans held at Pomona College and photographs by Julius Schulman, renown modernist architectural photographer. The finished home has won both LA Conservancy and California Preservation Foundation Preservationist Awards for the work.
Tour this amazing house and grounds and enjoy refreshments in the garden. The event benefits Barnsdall Arts, a non-profit which provides quality affordable arts programs in public spaces and schools.
