The Flesh Hungry Dog Show's 4th Annual,
For our final event of 2011, The Flesh Hungry Dog Show presents our fourth annual "Christmas With The Joans." This holiday extravaganza features Chicago's favorite party band The Joans, rakish and urbane rockers The Handcuffs, and the loveable bad girls of Chicago rock, The Wanton Looks. Chicago rock impresario Gary Airedale hosts, DJ spins before and between the bands. The show will also feature "Bag of Fun" prize giveaways from The Pleasure Chest, and special surprise guests!
This Chicago based band formed in 2007 The Joans are a pop band that combine elements of old school new wave, glam, and electronic dance grooves to form their own unique sound. The Joans consist of lead singers, Davy and Jennifer Joans, lead guitarist Taylor Joans, drummer Aaron Joans, bassist Steve Joans and their trusty keyboardist and maid, Carol Ann (Ed Joans).
The Joans have appeared live throughout Chicago including Chicago Pridefest, Halsted Market Days, Reggies, Schubas, The Elbo Room, The Empty Bottle, The Flesh Hungry Dog Show, The Bottom Lounge (opening for Semi-Precious Weapons), and many more. Outside of Chicago The Joans were honored to be invited to play the legendary Folsum Street Fair and open for Natasha Bedingfield, Cyndi Lauper and Joan Rivers at the Milwaukee Pridefest 2008-2010. The Joans were voted favorite rock band by the Chicago Free Press readers in 2009, and named best debut CD by Windy City Times music columnist David Byrne. Their video for their song, Mad at the Dirt has appeared on NewNowNext, and made the top ten of The Click List on the Logo Network, and has caught the attention of gay music icon Boy George who calls The Joans , 'Brilliant'.
The Handcuffs embody the spirit of rock music's uninhibited, sexy and overbearing appeal. A perfect blend of style and energy. They do not sound like anyone else, but at the same time they seem very familiar. They are influenced by everything good that sells and anything good that doesn't. Rock music is loud (not just in volume, but in its nature), pompous and fun - and The Handcuffs embrace every reckless minute of it.
The Wanton Looks
The Wanton Looks are four women that deliver the goods! The group was conceived by Traci Trouble (Paper Bullets, Thee Invaders, Hot Lips Messiah) and Meg Thomas (Reptoids, OD TAPO IMI). After countless auditions of guitarists, Inga Olson (The Closet Squatters, The Howl) joined the band followed a year later by southern sweetie Susie Q (Slutter, The Howl). With fizzy hooks and towering sing-along choruses who can complain? They will break your face and your heart. Stay tuned for their debut album which is going to blow your mind.
