Meisner Acting Classes
About the Meisner Technique:
The Meisner Technique emphasizes the importance of truthful acting on the stage and screen. Sanford Meisner, who became well known for his long list of famous acting students, created a foundational exercise for actors called "repetition". Meisner described it as, "an exercise for actors where there is no intellectuality. I wanted to eliminate all the 'head' work, and take away the manipulation and get to where the source of all organic creativity comes from, your impulses."
About the Instructor:
Grant McGowen is the Producing Artistic Director and a founding member of Pinch n' Ouch Theatre. He has Produced, Directed, Written and Performed in over a dozen professional productions in Atlanta and New York City. Grant is a graduate of the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts where he studied Screen Acting and the Meisner Technique. He is also an accomplished Casting Director and has cast plays, films, and nationally televised commercials. He was most recently featured in Atlantan Magazine's "Top 20 Most Important People, Places, and Things to Watch on Atlanta's Arts Scene."
Level 1: Foundation For Film & Stage Acting
During this eight week class, you will learn the basic fundamentals and techniques of Meisner acting. As you gradually start to trust your instincts, you will learn how to listen and respond truthfully. This basic foundational work will help guide you toward a successful career as an actor.
Time: 7pm to 10pm
Cost: $250
Level 2: Acting On Stage
In this eight week class, you will continue to learn the techniques that are vital to truthful acting on the stage and screen. You will learn to work collaboratively with other actors and directors and apply the Meisner technique to challenging scenes. You will also work on a new monologue.

Time: 7pm to 10pm
Cost: $250
Level 3: Acting On Camera
This eight week class is devoted to acting specifically on camera. Using a two-camera set up, you will learn the techniques to effectively execute a master shot, a long shot, a two-shot, and close up. You will be paired with a partner and apply these techniques to challenging scenes. You will leave this class with a professional demo reel.
