"Laud to the Nativity" - BCC 2011 Holiday Concert
Bellingham Chamber Chorale to Perform  "Laud to the Nativity" Holiday Concerts

Bellingham - Bellingham Chamber Chorale will present two holiday concerts entitled,  "Laud to the Nativity"  at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2600 Lakeway Drive, on Saturday, December 3, at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $5 eighteen and under. Tickets can be purchased in Bellingham at Piper Music, Village Books, The Community Co-op, in Lynden at The Noisy Neighbor, at brownpapertickets.com and at the door. For more information visit www.bellinghamchamberchorale.org.

The December concert features Ottorino Respighi's "Laud to the Nativity" for mixed chorus, solo voices and instrumental ensemble along with a wide variety of accompanied and a cappella seasonal choral works ranging from the Renaissance to modern times.

"We've chosen repertoire for these concerts that showcases the full range of Bellingham Chamber Chorale's artistry and the beautiful, intimate acoustics of Christ the Servant church," says Ryan Smit, BCC artistic director and conductor. "We are excited that Amber Sudith Bone and Kathryn Weld will be featured soloists for Respighi's ""Laud to the Nativity", plus a chamber ensemble of regional instrumentalists featuring members of the Whatcom Symphony. Keeping with the theme of the concert, the Chorale will perform three different settings of 'Hodie, Christus natus est', Franz Biebl's 'Ave Maria', and other Christmas choral masterpieces."

In 2011-2012, Bellingham Chamber Chorale celebrates nine years of creating excellence in choral performance with the appointment of Ryan Smit as Artistic Director. BCC was founded in 2003 by Tim Fitzpatrick and has flourished as an intimate, chamber chorale of high quality singers from Whatcom and Skagit Counties presenting diverse and challenging repertoire for its growing audiences.

"Ryan Smit's appointment as Artistic Director of the BCC comes at an opportune time as BCC nears its threshold of being a decade old," said Rico Romano, President of the Board of Directors and choir member. "Ryan's experience with the Grammy-award winning Phoenix Chorale in combination with the robust choral program he has developed in Lynden will continue Tim Fitzpatrick's legacy of excellent, ground-breaking and heart-moving choral music in the north Puget Sound. We look forward to sharing our 2011-2012 concert season, and hope community members join us for our December 3 concerts."
