Chesapeake
Funny, bizarre, intriguingly relevant ...
What If? Founding Artistic Director Kyle Barnette stars in this existential and supernatural one-man odyssey as a pretentious performance artist named Kerr who becomes the target of a southern senatorʼs re-election campaign centered around removing government funding for the arts. Not satisfied with simply standing up for his cause, Kerr devises a ludicrous plan to kidnap the senatorʼs primary campaign tool, his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Lucky.
A timely piece of contemporary theatre in light of SC Gov. Nikki Haleyʼs recent attempts at slashing the stateʼs own government funding for the arts, Chesapeake is as funny and bizarre as it is intriguingly relevant.
