This year's local shorts put the family in focus the nuclear family, the South Asian family, The queer family, and the family of self!
LIVE PERFORMANCE Camp turned campier! Anuj Vaidya take Manoj Kumar's Bollywood classic Purab aur Paschim (East and West) and spins a futuristic yarn about a family of trannies sent off to the moon to shop and smoke, in order to salvage Earth's ailing economy.
SHORTS INCLUDE: Mani Ram's First of Many (US, 2011, 6 mins, in English) is a refreshing tale about a young Latina girl, her pink bicycle and her letters to Santa Claus; Pallavi Somusetty's Pretty Tied Up (US, 2011, 8 mins, in English and Telugu with English subtitles) is a twisted tale about a family where no one is what they appear to be; Vikram Ahuja's Do I? (US, 2011, 6 mins, in English) is a psychological comedy about a young man who appears to be losing his mind; Nara Denning's Narcissus (US, 2010, 7 mins, in English), featuring Nirmala Nataraj, is a gorgeously atmospheric retelling of the legend of Narcissus; Saqib Mausoof's Absolution (US, 2010, 15 mins, in English) is a gripping tale about a father who will go to any length to provide for his daughter; Reena Dutt's Sati (US, 2010, 8.5 mins, in English) is a dark tale about a newly married woman whose shattered dreams lead to extreme consequences; Sandeep Sood's Fair and Lovely Inside (US, 2011, 6.5 mins) is an infomerical satire about how to jump ship from the 'South Asian' family to the 'Caucasian' family; Sood's hilarious animated series about marriage, The Post-Nup Show (US, 2011, 6 mins, In English), makes an appearance with two episodes: Traveling Man and Being Salman Rushdie.
