Man of the Monkey Film Party
Filmmakers David Romberg and Bob Girvin cordially invite you to a fundraising event for their feature documentary, MAN OF THE MONKEY. According to local legend of Ilha Grande, the remote island in Brazil, the "Man of the Monkey" is a former Nazi who arrived in the 1970's to live in isolation from the world. He didn't remain on the island alone. As the legend goes, the man continued life with his domestic and romantic partner - a female chimpanzee. As a child, the filmmaker often heard this story from his father while they spent summers on the island. The film follows the filmmakers' search for truth about the "Man of the Monkey" and reveals a unique community of Ilha Grande residents as they reflect on the myth. Please join us at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011 co-produced by AfroTaino Productions & Braziladelphia, Special viewing of the film's teaser, with food, cocktails, music, and dancing at the International House.
