ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Kaya Martínez is a musician~educator dedicated to nurturing creativity and building community through the arts.  After more than 15 years of service in the classroom, Ms. Martínez founded Musicollaborative Exploriential Music Learning for All Ages to make high quality culturally relevant music education accessible to New Orleans' children and families.  Having spent years living in bilingual communities, taught in bilingual schools and studied in Mexico, Peru and Spain, she has developed a great love for the Spanish language and has collected songs and games from throughout Latin America.

Ms. Martínez enjoys holding space for learners of all ages to grow in their understanding in, of and about music and the other arts through a hands-heart-head facilitation style that incorporates exploration, imitation, improvisation and creation.  In addition to her masters degree in music education and certification in Orff Schulwerk, Ms. Martínez draws upon a diverse background in both instrumental and vocal music, visual arts and dance to design engaging learning opportunities that dissolve boundaries, stimulate the imagination, and foster collaboration.
