Comedy Returns to El Rio! (Mon, Oct 10)
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents...
Comedy Returns to El Rio!

Comedian/comedy producer, Lisa Geduldig, began her stand up comedy career 22 years ago at El Rio in San Francisco's Mission District. In commemoration of her 20th year in comedy, two years ago she launched a monthly comedy night, Comedy Returns to El Rio! the second Monday of the month at the club that first put her onstage.

The Monday, October 10th show features:
Joe Klocek, Dhaya Lakshminarayanan, Kazumi Kusano, Brendan Lynch, and Lisa Geduldig.

Joe Klocek is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy. Raised a Mid-Westerner, so he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years, so he thinks he's better than you. Joe does two things great: tells stories and talks to the crowd. Joe has appeared on Comedy Central's, "Live at Gotham," "Last Comic Standing," was a commentator for Emmy award-winning documentary "A Bridge so Far," and co-creator of the critically-acclaimed storytelling show, "Previously Secret Information." Joe has also been the runner-up in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the Seattle Comedy Competition. He has performed at every major comedy club in the country, including Alaska and is a regular on the Bay Area comedy scene.

Dhaya Lakshminarayanan is a former venture capitalist-turned-comedian who had a traditional Indian upbringing in the Deep South. She was the TV host of "High School Quiz Show" which premiered on PBS's WGBH last year. In past incarnations, Dhaya was Ms. August '06 Saffron Rare Threads, taught "Charm School" at MIT where she graduated (twice), and attended two Democratic National Conventions as a journalist before starting in the "funny" business of comedy. She is one of the only professional Indian stand-up comediennes in the world. Dhaya has MC'ed for private events, galas, shows, and auctions including the America India Foundation Gala and the Nirvana Woman's Fashion Show; she worked as an on-camera host with VidSF, plays a doctor on an Amgen TV commercial, was a finalist at the Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Competition, and performs all over the country.

Kazumi Kusano, born and raised in Japan, was inspired as a child by Japanese comedians, The Drifters, and in 1995 she began performing improvisational comedy in Tokyo. After she moved to the U.S., she created the sketch comedy duo, The Kazumi and Jane Comedy Hour, which performed in the Bay Area including a run of shows as part of The Identity Shift at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Kazumi has appeared in such projects as Ten Red Hen's Clown Bible, as well as commercials for Cache Creek Casino Resorts and YMCA. She performs stand up comedy all over San Francisco, and you can catch her at venues such as Castagnola's and the Marsh in Berkeley.

Brendan Lynch has established himself as a comedian to look out for in the Bay Area. He's had college crowds clamoring for extensions, and his performances at bars and clubs all over California have left patrons drooling in their drink minimums. Don't by deceived by Brendan's low-key manner. Prepare yourself for an outrageous slice outside the cookie cutter of life. Brendan's astute observational comedy will surprise you with its bold sarcasm and absurd twists.

Lisa Geduldig is the creator, producer, & MC of a variety of annual comedy shows: Kung Pao Kosher Comedy; The George Bush Going Away Party; Funny Girlz; A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar; The Color of Funny; Cafe con Comedy; Charo...

Must be over 21 as it's a bar.  Tickets on sale on a sliding scale basis - $7 to $20.
