History of the Charcoal Industry
Sonoma County was a major source of energy for California in the early part of the century. With limited local coal and transportation costs high, many of the early California homes and industries were fueled by Sonoma Charcoal. Join park History Docent Larry Maniscalco as he explores this now forgotten industry that shaped our land and powered our state. The walk and talk will do the Meadow / Hillside Loop and cover about 2.6 miles with a 300 foot elevation gain. Meet at the visitors center. Bring a lunch and join us at the end for further discussion on park history. Cost $5.00 per person. Under 18 free.
