The Odyssey
Caldwell Theater at Tam High Mill Valley, CA
Odysseus, king of Ithaca, embarks on his journey home following the siege of Troy. All throughout his travels he is beset upon by horrid monsters, beguiling temptations, and angry gods. Yearning for his home, the adamant Odysseus refuses to give himself up to the sea and relentlessly treks onward to Ithaca. However Ithaca itself is beleaguered by hundreds of suitors just as or even more dangerous than the most hideous of sea monsters. This audacious escapade serves to put the "adventure" in misadventure incorporating twists and humor that would leave Homer convulsing with giggles.
By Homer. Adapted by Hattie Naylor. Directed by Julianna Rees.
