Abraham.In.Motion/ Kyle Abraham - Live! The Realest MC
Pittsburgh native Kyle Abraham brings his dance company to KST for the world premiere of his new ensemble dance work, Live! The Realest MC. Inspired by Pinocchio's plight to be a "real boy," Live! references our own humanity in this digital age, creating an abstracted and humorously dark narrative that places the iconic childhood character in an industrial dystopia.
Investigating gender roles in the black community and the quest for acceptance in the world of hip-hop celebrity, Live! will be packed with fresh beats and moves with the emotional resonance that only A.I.M. can deliver.
Dancer, choreographery, and Pittsburgh native Kyle Abraham performs Live! The Realest MC, a new ensemble dance work inspired by Pinocchio's plight to be a "real boy." Abraham's diverse training in classical music, visual art, and dance forms from ballet to hip-hop give rance and depth to his sleek evocative work. Hailed as the "best and brightest creative talent to emerge in New York City in the age of Obama" by Out Magazine, Abraham's works probe the complex relationships between identity and personal history.

Join us on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 to celebrate Kyle Abraham's homecoming and the world premiere of "Live! The Realest MC". After Friday's performance, the dancing moves across the street for the Premiere After Party with Kyle Abraham and friends of KST. Dance to Hip Hop, Funk, Reggae and Soul, spun by DJ Vex at East Liberty's hottest night spot, AVA Lounge. Buy your ticket to the November 18 performance of "Live! The Realest MC" on or before November 11th and get free passes to the Premiere After Party! The party begins immediately after the post-show discussion at KST.
