Dub Mission is very proud to present the debut performance of Scotland's own Mungo's Hi Fi, featuring the ultra-talented SOOM T on the mic. The October 9th show will be Mungo's first performance at Dub Mission, and first tour in the U.S. MUNGO's will be playing brand new tracks from their upcoming album, Forward Ever, and old classics in a soundsystem style, with vocal tracks followed by versions ridden by one and only SOOM T. MUNGO's HI FI are a dub reggae, dancehall and dubstep soundsystem in the original roots tradition based in Glasgow, Scottland, who have reinvigorated soundsystem culture. Their formidable live shows have featured foundation legends like Ranking Joe, Sugar Minott, and Sister Nancy, as well as the latest top vocalists including Kenny Knots, Mr Williamz, YT, and Scotland's own lyrical lassie Soom T. Their live work feeds directly into the studio productions. Mungo's crucial releases, mainly on their own Scotch Bonnet label, have topped the reggae bestsellers on numerous occasions. Tom Tattersall, Douglas Paine, and Craig Macleod debuted in 2001 with "Wickedness" featuring Brother Culture (who recently performed at Dub Mission's 15th anniversary) on London's Dubhead label, taking the dub world by storm and getting heavy plays from Jah Shaka, and Iration Steppas. Mungos Hi-Fi have also received attention from DJs such as Mr Scruff, Andy Weatherall, and the late great John Peel, who have all championed their sound. Mr Scruff went on to include Mungos Hi Fi's "Ing" on his 2005 "Keep it Solid Steel" mix, which was released on Ninja Tune. After three outings on the Dubhead label including their 2002 album, Mungos Hi-Fi meets Brother Culture, the soundsytem set up their own imprint in 2005, Scotch Bonnet Records. In 2008, the Mungos crew released their first long-player on the label, Mungos Hi Fi Sound System Champions, which is an ensemble album featuring an onslaught of world class MCs & singers, including Ranking Joe, Top Cat, Tippa Irie, Kenny Knots and more. Mungo's recordings are made in a purpose built studio powered by the same enormous, homebuilt P.A as their live performances, pushing their productions continuously past reggae boundaries into new frontiers. With Forward Ever, their latest production, Mungo's Hi Fi deliver again with megatons of talent from a dream lineup of MCs. Forward Ever is a distilled concoction of soundsystem smashers that are taking the world by storm and engaging widespread new interest in bass culture with contemporary music that hasn't lost its roots (http://soundcloud.com/forward-ever-promo). The full launch is supported by tours in Japan, Mexico and the USA in, October, as well as live shows on their soundsystem throughout the UK and Europe. Hot off their live show in Fort Punta Christo, Croatia, where they ran their own arena at the Outlook Festival for the second year a in row, Mungo's Hi Fi is sure to provide an unforgettable experience. Since 1999 she has shared a studio and over 50 releases with the likes of The Orb, T.Raumschmiere, King Creosote, Miss Kittin, The Bug, Mungos Hifi, Bus, Asian Dub Foundation, and many others style- defining artists, securing her coveted position as an innovator of originally developed music discipline. Having spent the last ten years releasing and recording, Soom T has become reknowned within the industry as a buoyant MC, with an exceptionally virtuosic ability, definitive inimitable style, distinctive sound, and strong political-spiritual viewpoint. Her powerful poetry has gained her a burgeoning cult-like following, with fans eager to commute from various countries to witness her rare public appearances. Having been influcenced by Hindi Ghazals from the 50's, Punjabi Bhangra, the hiphop of the 80's and electro, rave and punk of the early 90's, her influences range from Rage Against the machine, Pink Floyd and Queen, to Christie Moore, Tasmin Archer, Col B (Colin Baker) and Commodore 64 game soundtracks. Her current projects include recordings with Scottish Reggae soundsystem masters, Mungos Hifi, Gypsy Rock eight-piece We Will Be Millions, a collaborative folk music album with Scottish supergroup Burns Unit, Prodigy-esqe co-produced project No Step with ex-Senser producer and production partner Hagos, and consistent vinyl releases on Scotch Bonnett and live shows with her homegrown crew Mungo's, whom she considers to be the best in the world, as well as releases on Jahtari, Police In Helicopter, Kraak Records, Livity, and many other independent labels worldwide. Soom T has been deployed to MC and deputise for many serious acts including The Bug, Senser, Miss Kittin, and Aphex Twin, and has toured extensively throughout Europe including festivals such as Roskilde and Sonar. On recording several tracks with Disrupt and fellow label mates Maffi in 2008, Soom T discovered a production vibe undoubtedly suited to her progressive vocal output and vowed to dedicate to the new found sound known simply as Digital Laptop Reggae (DLR). With a bundle of shows with Disrupt and several riotous crowd churning sets having left a firm imprint on European audiences, with more recent tours of Scandinavia, Japan, China, USA, Canada and Mexico in 2010 alone the Jahtari and Soom T marriage is shaping to be a union of legendary proportions. Ode To A Carrot, the latest release featuring Soom T and disrupt, is an ode to all things funny, jolly, nice, relaxing, weed-related. http://www.jahtari.org/artists/soomt.htm http://www.discogs.com/artist/MC+Soom-T?anv=Soom+T Soom T & Mungo's HiFi live mp3 http://www.bassfaced.com/2008/11/disrupt-mungos-hifi-live-mp3.html
