Tender Ground
The 418 Santa Cruz, CA
An Evening of Intimate Aerial Dance Theatre with Wide Blue Yonder Dance Company.
How many light bulbs does it take to change an octogenarian?
What is it like to sleep on air?
How does a psychotherapist stay grounded when his patient becomes an earthworm?
Tender Ground, an evening of three poignant and humorous aerial theatre pieces. Using the awkward, metaphoric beauty of body in flight, co-directors Lisa Christensen and Andrew Purchin unearth several ever-manifesting conditions of humanity: homelessness, mental health and aging. Characterizing the vulnerability and perseverance of the human spirit, Tender Ground reveals an ideal beauty that can come with imperfection.
