Garlic and Watermelons
First Person Stage Philadelphia, PA
Torn from their generations-old settlement to make way for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, a Gypsy community demonstrates feisty determination in its David-and-Goliath struggle to find a new home. Philadelphia-based Lauren Feeney and Cameron Hickey directed this moving documentary that has been featured in film festivals worldwide and earned jury prizes in Kiev, Macedonia, Glasgow and Montreal.
This event is presented as part of the First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art, November 7-11. For more information, see www.firstpersonarts.org.
