| Description |
In his West Coast debut, New York storyteller H.R. Britton comically skewers his fundamentalist upbringing, rails against religious hypocrisy, and delicately sketches a portrait of the historical Jesus. The hour promises 50% humor, 30% soul-searching, and 20% pure ranting.
FringeNYC Propaganda called Britton an extremely likeable performer, and Hi! Drama called him a most incredible storyteller who has the ability to have you forget your surroundings and escape into the story he's telling. Back Stage East called him "[a]n engaging storyteller with an ascetic face and a just-rolled-out-of-bed casualness."
"H.R. Britton's one-man show is not the angry screed suggested by the title. It's a thoughtful examination of how one mans intellectual growth led to personal liberation, even as it put some strain on his family relationships ... As directed by Maia Garrison, Jesus Rant has nothing arty or esoteric about it -- just one honest, likable guy telling his story with unaffected simplicity." -- A.J. Mell, Back Stage East |
