The Great One-Man Commedia Epic
The Great One-Man Commedia Epic--originally commissioned in 2004 for Italy's 20th Annual Stage Internazionale--has toured theatres, festivals, and schools throughout the States and Europe, including performances in New York City, London, and Washington, DC. As part of the Digital International Commedia dell'Arte Festival, Faction of Fools has arranged for this masterpiece of Commedia dell'Arte to return for this one-night show at Gallaudet University!

Artistic Director Matthew R. Wilson transforms a bare stage into a raucous world of young lovers, squabbling old men, boasting soldiers, and dim-witted servants. The entire town is thrust to the brink of tragedy (even forcing Wilson to duel himself!) before love prevails, normalcy is restored, and comedy triumphs!!!

Actor, writer, and director Matthew R. Wilson is an international Commedia dell'Arte specialist and Artistic Director of Faction of Fools Theatre Company. He has performed in seven countries and seventeen U.S. states as well as at notable theatres throughout New York City and his hometown, Washington, DC. A graduate of Antonio Fava's International School for Comic Acting, he worked as an instructor at Fava's School in Reggio-Emilia, Italy for 6 years. In addition to his work in physical theatre, mask & movement, and Commedia dell'Arte, Wilson also performs in modern theatre, television, and film. His extensive Shakespeare credits include playing Hamlet, Malvolio, Touchstone, Romeo, Benedick, and Sir Andrew Aguecheek, as well as directing Troilus & Cressida and A Midsummer Night's Dream. He holds an MFA from the The Shakespeare Theatre's Academy for Classical Acting at The George Washington University and is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, the Screen Actors' Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the Society of American Fight Directors.
