Louder Than a Bomb
Louder Than a Bomb tells the story of four Chicago high school poetry teams as they prepare to compete in the world's largest youth slam. By turns hopeful and heartbreaking, the film captures the turbulent lives of these unforgettable kids, exploring the ways writing shapes their world, and vice versa. While the topics they tackle are often deeply personal, what they put into their poemsand what they get out of themis universal: the defining work of finding one's voice.
Immediately following the film's screening, a special live program hosted by local producer Dana Reeves, known for his spoken-word program "Adult Relaxation," will introduce audiences to local poetry performers and moderate a Q&A about "Louder Than a Bomb." Then, the audience will become the judges in a live poetry slam. Performers include "LaChocolatebox" from Freehold, Jenelle Best from Neptune, and Kevin Elliott, also known as "Justice Truth," from Neptune. An evening of poetry, art, passion, and the heady sincerity of "Louder That a Bomb, promise to set up a weekend of thought-provoking films.
