SI SE PUEDE
"Si Se Puede" is a series of dances relating to the legacy and biography of Cesar Chavez. Each year the program changes slightly with emphases on the migrant farm workers movement, modern day immigration and human trafficking issues. Our goals for Si Se Puede remain the same: to provide a history lesson and enlightenment about the legacy of a Mexican American hero for the Latino populations of our city, as well as a voice relevant to their current situation in America. In an entertaining and intentional way that dance uniquely embodies, The Company hopes to broaden our understanding about peoples of color, being a conduit and bridge builder in our communities. The ethnic makeup of the dancers, bilingual and diverse as our city, empowers them as visual representations of those whose stories they dance to life. These are OUR AMERICAN stories, and are universal in their application, across color lines and picket lines and borderlines. This work is meant to bring forth the context, the contrasts and complex realities still encountered by many of our world and inspire compassion, especially in our student audiences.
