Global Rhythms: Lo Cor de la Plana
Two years after its triumphant West Coast debut at Town Hall, Lo Cor de la Plana returns with its mesmerizing polyphonic sound that reflects the eclectic culture of its hometown, Marseille, with hints of Eastern European, Arab, and African music, as well as Gregorian chant. One of the hottest groups in world performance touring, the six-man vocal ensemble from France sings tight, high-energy vocals in the disappearing language of Occitan, the language of Medieval troubadours, accompanied only by the performers' stomping feet, clapping hands, tambourines, and hand drums. Presented by Town Hall. Series media sponsorship provided by KBCS 91.3 FM and KEXP.
