The Konevets Quartet

Trained at the conservatory in the Great Russian musical tradition, the quartets goal was to establish an a cappella chamber choir with its own distinctive harmonic sound rather than as a vehicle for individual soloists. Since their founding in 1992 by graduates and students of the St. Petersburg Music Conservatory, this group has toured extensively across Europe with a repertoire running from Russian sacred music to eighteenth through twentieth century hymns by Stravinsky and Tchaikovsky. They also perform a spectrum of Russian classical, national and folk songs which have been described as vastly entertaining, alternately energetic, dreamy, funny and melancholy, bringing audiences around the world to acknowledge the group as a delight both as people and as performers.
