2011-12 Season Pass : Gallery Concerts
Les Délices' informal gallery concerts at the Tregoning & Co. and William Busta Galleries celebrate Cleveland's flourishing arts community and are followed by receptions and conversations with the artists that simulate a salon atmosphere similar to the one in which this music was first heard and enjoyed.
Saturday November 5, 2011 at 8pm William Busta Gallery (2731 Prospect Ave, Cleveland, OH 44115)
"The Age of Indulgence" recreates the opulent sound world of a 1750s Paris salon - including four works never before heard in Ohio. Works by F.A. Philidor, Mondonville, Dauvergne, and Rameau.
Saturday January 28, 2012 at 8pm Tregoning & Co. Gallery (1300 W 78th St, Cleveland, OH 44102)
Simultaneously signalling power and grace, refinement and discipline, the art of dancing held a singular status at the court of Louis XIV. Works includes Rebel's "Characters of the Dance," earthy, rollicking dances of Boismortier's Ballets de Village, suites for oboe and viol by Hotteterre and Marais, plus the Muse of dance herself inspires Rebel's trio sonata La Terpsichore.
Saturday May 12, 2012 at 8pm William Busta Gallery (2731 Prospect Ave, Cleveland OH 44115)
Special guest soprano Ellen Hargis joins Les Délices for Games & Diversions ranging from innocent to licentious in this program inspired by gambling and gossip, and fueled by an obsession with chocolate, wine, and other exotic brews. Works by Charpentier, Bernier, Marais, Couperin, and more.
