SLOW U: Gathering, an Introduction to Wild Food
Wild food, gathered sustainably in its habitat, is the original organic...blossoms, berries, bulbs, greens, herbs, roots, nuts, and mushrooms are gifts of nature to natural epicureans. Nova Kim and Les Hook, master Vermont gatherers (http://wildgourmetfood.com/In_Circle_of_Life.html), believe that plants and animals are our relatives in the Circle of Life and that, while we may take from the Circle to sustain ourselves, our relatives are entitled to respect and continued survival. Join Nova and Les to learn about their philosophy and to taste some of the seasonal, wild bounty they will have hand-gathered for the occasion. Proceeds from this event will support the activities and programs of not-for-profit Slow Food NYC, including the Urban Harvest programs of good food education for New York City kids.
