It's About Life Conference
The It's About Life Conference will kick-off on Friday, February 24th at 6:00 pm with a Meet & Greet dinner to be held at the Parish of the Holy Spirit, 7409 West Clearwater Avenue, Kennewick, WA. Tickets are available at the link to the right. You will be able to meet and visit with the esteemed speakers we have arranged for the conference. Tickets need to be purchased and confirmed by February 20th to allow for planning.
The It's About Life Conference, starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 25th in Dillon Hall at St. Joseph's Parish, 520 South Garfield in Kennewick, WA will feature Austin and Cathy Ruse as featured speakers.
Austin Ruse has headed the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM) since shortly after its creation in the summer of 1997. Mr. Ruse has held the title of President since 2000.
Ruse or his team have participated in every major UN social policy negotiation since 1997 including the multi-year negotiations that created the International Criminal Court.
He has briefed members of the U.S. House and Senate on U.N. matters, as well as briefing White House and National Security Council staff. Ruse has also briefed senior government officials, journalists, Church and non-governmental leaders from around the world.
He has appeared on a number of national cable network programs discussing UN and Catholic issues, including news programs on CNN, CBS News, MSNBC, and Fox News.
Cathy Cleaver Ruse is a Senior Fellow, Legal Studies, at the Family Research Council. She has devoted her professional career to promoting the dignity of the human person. Her professional experience spans the fields of communication, public policy, and law.
Mrs. Ruse was Chief Counsel to the Constitution Subcommittee in the House of Representatives where she had oversight of civil rights and human rights issues, as well as religious freedom and free speech matters which came before the House.
Diego and Kimberly Wendt from 4US.org will also speak and provide a real-time ultrasound demonstration. Diego was recently presented the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber's 2011 Howard O. Scott Citizen-Soldier of the Year Award.
Taking a leave from Boeing Company as an instructor pilot for the 737 and 777, Diego Wendt has flown for the past 18 months with the 97th Airlift Squadron, 446th Airlift Wing at JBLM-McChord Field.
Lt. Col. Wendt has deployed a total of 265 days, commanding resupply missions to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Antarctica as well as deploying for a six month tour as the acting Director of Mobility Operations at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
Lt. Col. Wendt defines the word "service." In 2005, Wendt and his wife Kim, co-founded 4US, an all-volunteer charity which raises money to buy ultrasound machines for crisis pregnancy centers. Since 2005, 4US has raised over $655,000 making possible the purchase of 15 ultrasound machines for centers across the state of Washington as well as providing the necessary staff training to operate each one. The first six machines were donated directly to pregnancy centers in Pierce County.
