This workshop will be geared towards players with enough experience that they feel ready to explore extended scale fingerings and other techniques in a musical context. Through presentation/demonstration and guided listening to recorded examples as well as question and answer, participants will gain resources for exploring more of the full capabilities of the Native American flute. Topics will include phrasing, ornaments, modes/scales, harmonic context, composing/arranging, etc. Recorded examples will be drawn from works of R.C. Nakai, Jeff Ball and others as well as from my own work. The ability to read music is NOT a prerequisite. Facilitator: Ron Warren, Nammy nominated musician with more than twenty years experience guiding musicians of all ages and skill levels.
Note: Children under twelve are admitted free of charge to all concerts. Flute Quest is a family event, drugs and alcoholic beverages are not permitted at this event. Washington Flute Circle d/b/a Flute Quest is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation
