Description
MAY 15 - MAY 25 2008  Peddling Rainbows The Songs and Poetry of E.Y. Yip Harburg! The world premiere of a new revue celebrating the songs of E.Y. Yip Harburg! The man who created the lyrics for The Wizard of Oz and such musicals as Finians Rainbow, Bloomer Girl, and Jamaica, Harburg was dedicated to social justice, and was often referred to as Broadways social conscience. His lyrics and poems frequently found him in the mode of a social commentator. Harburgs composer-collaborators included Harold Arlen, Burton Lane, Jerome Kern, and Vernon Duke. The revue includes hits like Its Only a Paper Moon, April in Paris, Brother Can You Spare a Dime?, Over the Rainbow, and Down with Love.
