Plays from the Alley is back for its third encore! An annual summer play reading series dedicated to premiering new scripts from local, emerging playwrights, Plays runs three Mondays in July at the Visual Arts Collective. Directed by local theatre professionals, performances are expertly delivered by established and emerging actors in the Treasure Valley. After the readings, audiences provide feedback about the play, engaging in discussion with playwright, director and actors.

Two old friends find themselves in the challenge of their lives when their beloved barbershop is sold to a feisty, young woman named Rita who brings with her a hidden past and present danger. Lives are at stake, and this shave may just be too close for comfort.

Travis is at a low point in his life - his girlfriend is leaving him, he's addicted to painkillers, he's lost his job and his motivation to live is wavering. Travis slips into a dream world of his own making to escape his troubles - but can he escape the Kingdom that might just kill him?
Solace by Jason Haskins, directed by Liberty Leeds Klautsch. Staged July 25.

John brings his fiance Melissa back to the family home for Christmas to meet his quirky, sharp-edged and dark relatives. Old demons arise as son confronts father about the solace he's never found in his family.
