Madame Burlesque (Vermont)
MADAME BURLESQUE is the latest and greatest show from The Boston Babydolls; a tribute to some of the legendary ladies who made burlesque great. The two-hour show is an homage to Gypsy Rose Lee, Blaze Starr, Sally Rand, and many others.
The show features a mix of favorite Babydoll numbers and brand-new acts. Some crowd favorites are Evie Sphinx's "Oyster Girl" (which was seen in Mr Cupid's House of Love in February); a new version of Betty Blaize's tribute to Zorita's incredibly sexy spiderweb number (you can see a video of the original at http://youtu.be/xrH2Yabn9QE -- Betty has updated the spiderweb number with some new costume pieces and new music), and Miss Mina's April March tribute which debuted at The Great Burlesque Exposition in April of this year (there's a video of that number athttp://vimeo.com/22764522.
MADAME BURLESQUE features The Boston Babydolls Miss Mina Murray, Betty Blaize, Devora Darling, and Evie Sphinx plus Brigette Bisoux and Corinne Southern. The show is hosted by Scratch, who doesn't take his clothes off, but is a pretty funny guy and does some impressive magic.
The Boston Babydolls are New England's leading burlesque troupe. They won a "Best of Boston" from The Boston Phoenix two years in a row (2010 and 2011), and run the only dedicated burlesque school in New England. The troupe has performed all over the country, and shared the stage with burlesque luminaries like Angie Pontani and Kitten DeVille, and legends like Tempest Storm and April March.
