THE MISER-Walking the dog Theater's summer workshop
Basilica Industria Hudson, NY
For more than three centuries audiences have been charmed by the obsessive scrimping of Harpagon, the sputtering old man whose every action is determined by greed. His son Cleante in turn is a gambler who rebels against his father's stinginess by squandering his father's money. Their clashing views of money are exacerbated by conflicting romantic interests- they both want to marry Mariane. Again, we are swept into a fast-paced universe of colorful characters, including the ubiquitous witty servant and go-between Frosine.
DIRECTIONS TO THE BASILICA INDUSTRIA: Follow Warren Street to the Hudson Amtrak station. Pass the station, pass the parking lots, and cross the railroad tracks. Just as you think you must be wrong, you will see a red brick industrial building on your left: that is the Basilica Industria!
