"Measure for Measure" by William Shakespeare
Fontbonne Fine Arts Theatre St. Louis, MO
This modern-dress production of Shakespeare's "problem comedy" veers from slap-stick humor to heart-wrenching confrontations as it explores issues of power, justice, faith and mercy. On the verge of joining a religious order, Isabella is called to plead for mercy for her brother Claudio, who has been condemned to death by Angelo. When Angelo proposes that she give up her virginity to save her brother, a complex plot of betrayal is put into motion.
