Passion, or Death!
The world is changing. The color is fading from faces. What are we to do to keep alive? Merely surviving is not enough. We wish to THRIVE; to not only realize our dreams and passions, but become them.
In truth, it is our only hope.
That is the message of the new work being developed by Seattle performance ensemble, The Harlequin Hipsters. Passion, or Death! is a work of Varieté Dance Theater that challenges humanity to fend off terminal tedium and doldrums by manifesting their potential and becoming who and what they have always dreamed. The inevitable result of not doing this: succumb to a fatal disease that infects the dispassionate.
With some of Seattle's most stellar talent coming together to form one incredible ensemble, this production will tell the story of our society at the brink of annihilation at its own hand. Through theater, dance, sweat, circus arts, consciousness, poetry, flight, sensuality, burlesque, original live music and Shakespeare, we aim to ignite the passion in your soul and inspire you to follow the light of your desire.

Times: June 24th and 25th, 7:00pm and 9:00pm each night.

The excitement of this show comes from the uncertainty of the times we live in. None of us knows what will happen in the next years to come, but one thing we can surmise: if we do not change, and begin living with the planet and not merely on it, with one another, artfully, holistically, passionately, we risk losing everything beautiful we have built.
The Harlequin Hipsters is an avant garde, Commedia dell'Arte, partner dance troupe, established in 2007. Having started with just two dancers, we moved into true ensemble-dom in 2009, and continue to evolve and morph now with a cast of 6 and a supportive production team bringing our ranks to 10. Our mission is to create an energized sense of community, art and interpersonal connection through the playful fusion of performance art and social dance. Through the synthesis and re-imagining of swing, hip-hop, contemporary dance, Commedia dell'Arte and modern Circus disciplines, we craft experiences that invoke in our audiences a spirit of dance, play and wonder.
