Walking Tour: The History of our Future: South Lake Union as a Biotech Hub
From its early days of lumber and coal to aircraft manufacture and then software and online retailing, this region has continually reinvented itself to conquer new frontiers. In recent history Seattle's leadership in the knowledge economy has provided the insight, confidence, and resources to build an ascendant role in Global Health. This tour will discuss how visionary leadership and accidents of history combined to establish the South Lake Union neighborhood as a focal point of activity and hotbed of collaboration.
This tour will be led by MOHAI board member Don Rule and start at the South Lake Union Discovery Center. We will visit PATH and the Seattle BioMed facility and hear additional presentations from Vulcan, Washington Global Health Alliance, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The tour is designed for accessibility and will require roughly 6-8 blocks of walking.
ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL.
