THE ORIGINAL AND AUTHENTIC VICTORIAN SÉANCE October 29, 30 and Nov 6, 2011
Step back into 1860 when Spiritualism was on the rise across America.
Meet the notorious medium- Leah Fox Underhill who, in the 1850's, helped popularize spirit communication in America. Enter a spooky world of mediums, spirit whispering, and mystery; a time when many people suddenly discovered their own hidden ability to break through the veil, often after attending a "spirit circle". Spiritualism had ten million believers during the second half of the 1800's even after some mediums confessed to using trickery to achieve their effects.
The Original and Authentic Victorian Séance takes place in the Robert Long House, a genuine historic site from 1765, the oldest residence in Fell's Point and old Baltimore. Many consider this building to be haunted!
Experience a unique time-traveling entertainment; a realistic representation of a Victorian séance of 1860 including the mysteries of the beyond encountered in a darkened room! The Preservation Society and New Old Theater have duplicated all the trappings, rappings and tippings of a real séance using time-appropriate Nineteenth-Century effects. Everything is as it would have been 150 years ago. Be very afraid!
Tickets to the séance include wine to toast the spirits and "extras"!
