| Description |
The Eugene International Film Festival is a celebration of filmmaking from every angle. Films and filmmakers from around the world will be here to contribute to your love of the art, science and pleasures of motion pictures. See and learn how they are made. Hone your screenwriting and pitch skills. There will be buyers and agents attending.
Regal Entertainment Group is providing three theaters for three days at their new Valley River Center Stadium 15 location. You will experience international storytelling, historical films, great seating, state-of-the-art projection and sound.
By special arrangement there will be showings of selected rare classic films. Among them, "Abe Lincoln in Illinois" (filmed in Eugene in 1939, starring Raymond Massey) and the Dutch classic "In Retrospect" (the story takes place in 1958 and filmed in Amsterdam in 1989, Director Erik Fransman will be present). Recently released adrenalin soaked "Fighter Pilot" will also be shown (Production Executive Ed Capelle will be present).
Eugene, OR is a city of the arts famous for its cultural events, educational opportunities, outdoor life and quality of living. The community has a long history of filmmaking, world-class soundstages, recording studios and industry professionals. If fine dining makes your day you have classic film locations from which to choose. Consider doing lunch in the cafeteria where the famous "Animal House" food fight took place. Or, dine at the restaurant where Jack Nicholson's character in "Five Easy Pieces" tried to order toast, an item not on the menu. He ended up ordering a chicken salad sandwich, asking the waitress to hold the chicken between her knees.
If fitness is your second passion after filmmaking, go for a run on the trails and track where Steve Prefontaine trained and set world records. "Without Limits" the story of Steve Prefontaine was filmed in Eugene.
There will be special showcases, award winning independent films, celebrations of excellence, workshops, and social rights of passage. Agents, film reviewers, screenwriters, actors, and producers will be part of the festival milieu. SCREENWRITER'S RETREAT/SESSION September 30th through October 3rd, learn how to write movies that will grab and hold audiences! Leading up to the Eugene International Film Festival is a powerful Screenwriters' Retreat.
