BuddhaFest 2011 Tara Brach Talk & Meditation & World Premiere of FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS
Tara Brach explores how we deepen our love for ourselves and others. We then present the World Premiere of FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL BEINGS. The director will be with us for a discussion of the film and will take questions from the audience.
What's love go to do with it? Everything. What kind of person would you become if you had been imprisoned for 20 years? As this film shows, you can become a highly awakened master who radiates love and compassion.
Garchen Triptrul Rinpoche was born on the "roof of the world" in Tibet. Discovered by a king as the reincarnation of a great Lama., he was enthroned at the age of seven, leading a monastic life of study and meditation. Then his freedom was shattered. He was imprisoned in the prime of his life. He witnessed the death of friends and suffered greatly at the hands of his captors. All the time, he was secretly practicing. When he emerged after 20 years, he was hailed by his own teacher as "an emanation of a Boddhisattva," a being totally dedicated to the welfare of others.
Now in his seventies, Garchen Rinpoche is revered by Buddhists and non-Buddhists alike. Known for extraordinary love, limitless compassion and clear wisdom, he travels an exhausting schedule, reaching as many students as he can and acting on projects that benefit his Tibetan homeland and the world.
