Sketch Writing for TV Boot Camp with 30 Rock's Kay Cannon!!
A week of writing sketch for TV in just ONE WEEKEND! Students will go through the experience that TV sketch writer's weather every week. Expect it to be INTENSE, A LOT OF HARD WORK, and SUPER FUN!
SATURDAY: The workshop will start with a pitch session with each writer pitching his or her favorite sketch ideas to the instructor. They should come to the workshop prepared with those pitches. (Two ideas per writer) The instructor will then guide the writer(s) to pick one idea to use to write their sketch. Then, they will begin the writing process, perhaps pairing up with other writers in the workshop if they so choose. Students will then be expected to continue writing on their own time after the workshop on Saturday, since they must turn in one finished sketch to the instructor at start of class Sunday morning.
SUNDAY: The day begins with a table read of all the sketches submitted. After the read, the instructor will pick a handful of sketches to be "produced" as if they will be aired for TV. Then, there will be a rewrite "Round Table" where all the writers will help rewrite the selected sketches. In whatever time remains, those sketches will be put on their feet!
The price of the workshop includes Saturday and Sunday - both 4-hour sessions. Both days start promptly at 11am and end equally promptly at 3pm. Coffee, water and snacks are provided. Students are expected to bring their own writing implements (laptops, pens, paper, etc.).

About Kay Cannon:
Kay Cannon comes to San Francisco from New York where she is a writer/producer for the three-time Emmy winning NBC comedy, "30 Rock". Before writing for "30 Rock", Kay was a resident cast member at The Second City in Las Vegas. She has also appeared at The Second City in Chicago & Los Angeles, The UCB theatre in New York and Los Angeles, IO, and IOWest, Amsterdam's BOOM Chicago and Chicago's ComedySportz. She can currently be seen in the Tropicana "Trop50" campaign alongside "30 Rock" star, Jane Krakowski.
Cannon has won a Peabody Award and three Writers Guild of America awards for her work on "30 Rock". In 2010, Kay was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.
She is also a die-hard Bears fan & is looking forward to getting her invitation to Jay Cutler's wedding to reality star, Kristin Cavallari... Get on it, Jay.
