GI Film Festival Military Film Short Block
This event is a SHORT BLOCK and tickets will include the following films: Recollection, James Warwick, Verdict, Xtraction, A Marineâs Guide to Fishing, Retreat, and Thule.
Recollection - DC Premiere! Directed by John Mann Narrative Short (7 Minutes)
A poignant music video by Samantha Ransom, Recollection tells the story of a military wife who receives a surprise visit from her soldier husband just as tragic news visits her doorstep. Director John Mann is an Army Sergeant.
James Warwick - DC Premiere! Directed by Arthur Fishel Narrative Short (13 Minutes)
Told from the perspective of a newspaper columnist writing a story, the life of James Warwick is told beginning with his return home from WWII and his relegation to a job as a garbage man. As the story progresses, the writer finds there is much more to this ordinary man, qualities which he comes to greatly admire.
Verdict - World Premiere! Directed by Nicolas Mezzanatto Narrative Short (11 Minutes)
A soldier returning home from Iraq struggles daily with Post Traumatic Stress while trying to integrate back into society. While witnessing a violent altercation in a restaurant, the soldierâs training forces him into action. Tempers flare and emotions rise during an intense criminal trial that follows the incident. Everything hinges on the Verdict.

Ronnie is a hardened ex-military contractor who spent years in combat operations in Afghanistan and now works with the U.S Consulate to Mexico, fighting border corruption and black market organ traffickers. Her work has left her emotionally estranged from her caring husband, Dave, and her 10-year-old daughter, McKenna. After McKenna is abducted, Ronnie resorts to her warrior training and intentionally places herself in mortal danger. How far will she go to save the one she loves?
A Marine's Guide to Fishing - World Premiere! Directed by Nicholas Brennan Narrative Short (15 Minutes)
A Marine's Guide to Fishing tells the story of Connor Sullivan's first âAlive Dayâ - the one year anniversary of the day an IED blew off his leg in Iraq. It's also his first day back at his old job fishing along the coast of Maine. Far from the deserts of the Middle East, Connor returns to the cold, wind-swept docks of his hometown in Maine where he learns to truly come home. The film stars Matthew Pennington, an amputee veteran with three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Richard and Antoinette attend a retreat for military couples to try to find a way to reconnect and rekindle the spark dimmed by multiple deployments.
Thule - DC Premiere! Directed by Robert Scott Wildes Narrative Short (27 Minutes)
Separated from their loved ones in a remote Air Force base in Greenland during the height of the Cold War, a group of airmen desperately awaits a mail drop to bring them news from home. When the drop fails, scattering the mail around the base, the men undergo a dangerous mission to find it. Tragic, yet uplifting, Thule is ultimately about a man who sacrifices for his brothers in arms, and in doing so, finds redemption in the most unlikely of places.
