Legendary roots reggae group - Steel Pulse, will be making a momentous appearance at the Outdoor Stage at Pisgah Brewing Company in Black Mountain, NC on June 1st, 2011.
From their founding in England in 1975 through their most recent release in 2004, this group has been influencing the reggae world with its distinctive sound for over 35 years. Initially finding it difficult to book some live gigs because of their supposed subversive Rastafarian politics, Steel Pulse gained a foothold in the UK music scene by rolling in with the wave of punk music that was taking hold in Britain in the mid 1970s. Opening for such bands as The Clash, The Stranglers, Generation X, XTC & The Police, it was an opening slot for Burning Spear that finally got them the attention of Island Records.
Over the years Steel Pulse has released fourteen live and studio albums, receiving several Grammy nominations and a Grammy win for Best Reggae Album of the Year on African Holocaust, their powerful 2004 release. Playing close to one hundred live dates in 2010, they are one of the hardest working Reggae bands around. Steel Pulse has played a significant role in Reggae music history that began with three talented, second-generation West Indian immigrants in Birmingham, England and continues on June 1st at Pisgah's Outdoor Stage in Black Mountain.

Artist/Singer Lead Guitar - Iyah Haile Israel has been a chief musician in the reggae industry for over thirty years, playing with some of the biggest names in the field. From the Wailers, to the Heartical crew of Hawaii from Bamboo station of the Virigin Islands to Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus.Not to mention several of Bob Marelys children including Ziggy and Stephen.Iyah Haile Israel is also Founder/Head Priest of the Melchizedek Musical Ministries, an educational outreach program based in music therapy.

Opening/backing Band - The Dub Cartel is an up in coming Reggae power house. Although recently formed, this band consists of an Asheville local Allstar line up. Members from Shining Rock and the Zion Project Reggae Bands. As well as, members of "the Farm" based funk band Strut and the acclaimed Asheville Horns. The Dub Cartel will be sure to put the bass in your face to make you wind up your waist. Be on the look out for surprise special guests!
