An intimate conversation with James McGregor
In Hot, Flat, and Crowded, Thomas Friedman compared the Chinese economy to the movie Speed. China's leaders are trying to replace the motor in a Chinese bus from a gas-guzzling polluter to a superefficient hybridwhile the bus is still going 50 MPH. Failure to maintain an 8% growth ratewhile simultaneously dealing with the nation's pollution crisiscould lead to so much unemployment and discontent that the population might erupt.
China is an enormous player in cleantech. To understand the promise of the sector, we must understand China.
