Elephant Man
FirstFree Chicago, IL
a startling portrayal of man based on the true events in the life of John Merrick, a young man living with debilitating deformities dubbed "the elephant man." Merrick, after being relegated to the life of a sideshow "freak" is left abandoned and homeless and is admitted for medical observation of his condition to Whitechapel Hospital in London. Here he meets Treves, a well known young doctor who sees past his condition and seeks to integrate Merrick back into society. But can society look beyond his misshapen exterior and allow him to be a man like any other? The Elephant Man examines suffering and the essence of humanity at its core. May 13 - June 4. $12 ONLINE AND $15 AT THE DOOR.
