The Underground Storm
THE UNDERGROUND STORM FESTIVAL SERIES
The Pulse of the Underground

Setting Fire to the Stage with the East Coast’s Finest Musicians!

PHILADELPHIA, PA  (JUNE 7, 2007) – On Sunday, July 15, from Noon – 10:00pm, Philadelphia will be treated to a musical first at the Rotunda, 4012 Walnut St, Philadelphia.

Inspired by the desire to unite communities through music, The Underground Storm Festival Series was formed to create true harmony by uniting diverse musical genres under one roof at an event the entire family could enjoy.  Every genre will be represented from Rock to Hip Hop, Gospel to Spoken Word, and everything in between.  Proceeds from each event will be donated to a different community organization; the first event in the series will benefit the House of Umoja.

The Underground Storm Festival will feature the area’s finest artists and musicians on the main stage – showcasing the best talent each genre has to offer.  Philadelphia native Montana Blak will headline this festival.  On the second stage, the area’s open mic venues will sponsor open mic sessions that will spotlight even more local artists and give audience members a chance to showcase their skills.

Montana Blak is a Hip Hop artist with his own record label and Entertainment Corporation.  He has gained the respect and loyalty of his fans by remaining true to his Philadelphia roots and doing everything possible to promote Philly’s wealth of talent.  His distinguishing musical characteristics will allow him to secure his spot in Philadelphia Hip Hop history.

The House of Umoja, an internationally acclaimed organization, is dedicated to the positive development of youth, reducing violence and abusive behavior, providing interventions in negative behavior and improving the quality of life for economically disadvantaged urban male youth and their families. Its rich 37-year history of service has been acknowledged with over 100 awards for work with at-risk youth, ending gang warfare and promoting community service.

The open mic sign-up on the second stage is open to any artist interested in performing.  Admission is $10.00 and all ages are welcome.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or by visiting www.myspace.com/theundergroundstorm.
