Rossport is a coastal farming and fishing village in western Ireland. In 2005, villagers there learned that Shell Oil had decided to build a gas pipeline in their immediate vicinity. Local priests, law enforcement, courts, the Irish government, and EU regulations all have a part to play in the struggle between the villagers and the multinational corporation. Perhaps worst of all, the conflict divides the community.
