Music Foundations Playgroup: Books That Sing
Eight-week Summer Series Thursdays, 5:15-6:15, June 11-July 30
Music Foundations Playgroup empowers 3- to 5*-year-olds to sing, move, play and create together in a small group setting independent from their caregivers and under the guidance of experienced musician~educators. The summer theme for the playgroup is "Books That Sing," and each week a picture book based on a song will guide the music making and culminate in a related craft activity. While prior experience in Musicollaborative's FamJam or Duets courses is helpful, it is not required. (*6-year-olds who are new to Musicollaborative are also welcome to join us!)
All sessions integrate vocal music, hand percussion and movement. In addition to group music making, time is allowed for instrumental exploration on the keyboard, drumset and miscellaneous percussion. Diverse repertoire will be selected from world music as well as the Crescent City soundtrack.
